The WFNMB 2018 Post-Congress Symposium will be held on 26-27 April 2018 at the Cairns Convention Centre. This 2 day congress will focus on the role of PET imaging and radionuclide therapy in prostate cancer. The congress will feature lectures from leading international speakers, including nuclear medicine specialists, radiochemists, medical and radiation oncologists. The first day will focus on the diagnostics of prostate cancer and the second day will focus on the treatment of prostate cancer, with state of the art lectures on current diagnostic and treatment approaches. Several case-based and interactive panel discussions will be held throughout the symposium to optimize the educational component of the symposium.
A memorable social program will also be held, including the symposium dinner on Thursday April 26th at the Tjapukai Cultural Centre, featuring an authentic Australian indigenous cultural evening. On the afternoon of Friday April 27th, registrants will have the option of choosing one of 3 half day tours to enhance their experience of Australia. The tour is included in the registration fee and delegates will be able to select one of either:
- a cruise to Green Island on Australia’s magnificent Great Barrier Reef including the choice between a glass-bottom boat tour or snorkeling on the reef, or
- a visit to Hartley’s Crocodile farm, where delegates will be able to have a close and personal experience with some of Australia’s incredible wildlife, including crocodiles, wallabies, and koalas, or
- a gourmet dining experience at one of Cairns’ multi-award winning restaurants.
The symposium is being held in conjunction with ANZUP (Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group), ANZSNM (Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine) and ESMIT (European School of Multimodality Imaging & Therapy) as well as the AANMS (Australasian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists).

Social Function & Tours
At the conclusion of the first day of the Cairns Post-Congress Symposium, delegates are invited to Tjapukai to experience authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Over the course of the evening, attendees will have a chance to interact with the Traditional Owners of Cairns, the Djapukay people, whose culture dates back over 40,000 years. In addition to a sumptuous buffet style dinner, delegates will also be treated to cultural demonstrations and performances like a traditional Fire.
Hartley’s Crocodile Tours
Ever wanted to have an up close and personal experience with some of Australia’s incredible wildlife? Hartley’s Crocodile Tour gives you the opportunity to learn about and meet some of Australia’s unique indigenous wildlife including crocodiles, wallabies, and koalas. This tour includes a boat cruise and guided tour of Hartley’s crocodile farm.
Green Island Reef Tour
Ever dreamed of visiting the Great Barrier Reef? This tour provides an exciting afternoon at Green Island, just a 45 minute boat ride from Cairns. Delegates will have the choice of snorkeling around Green Island’s beautiful coral reef system or viewing the coral during a glass bottom boat tour of the area.
